Time To Remove and Ban Mocha Uson From Public Service

The queen of fake news is charged anew for spreading blatant lies and disinformation online.

Not yet off the hook with the criminal cases for violation of the Revised Penal Code and the Anti-Cyber Crime Law that Senator Antonio Trillanes filed against her last year, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson is once again charged before a competent authority but this time with cases that are administrative in nature.

The youth arm of party-list group Akbyan initiated the filing of administrative complaints against Uson before the Office of the Ombudsman for grave misconduct, serious dishonesty and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service. All these cases are anchored on the documented instances when the controversial appointee of President Rodrigo Duterte posted or shared fake news in her social media pages.

Student leaders from different schools nationwide led the filing of the administrative complaint against Uson for “spreading disinformation while she is in government.”

Akbayan Protesters

Trillanes sued Uson because of her false and malicious post accusing the senator of owning secret offshore accounts in different countries where he is purportedly hiding his ill-gotten wealth.

Shaniah Bulangis, co-convenor of Youth Resist, an organization under the umbrella coalition of students and youth organizations belonging to Akbayan Youth, cited the instance when Uson erroneously claimed last year that St. Scholastica’s College forced students to attend anti-Ferdinand Marcos burial rallies.

The school had vehemently denied the accusation and averred that the students who joined rallies and other activities do so on their own volition.

Bulangis also mentioned the time when Uson encouraged the public to visit the wake of a policeman allegedly killed by criminals but who turned out to have passed away long ago for a different reason.

Leaders and members of the group carried placards and coffee cups with pictures of Uson and the text #FireMocha, “How Do You Like Your Mocha? Fired!” and “It’s Mocha Day! April Fool’s Day!”

While criminal cases are filed with the purpose of inflicting the penalties of imprisonment and fines, administrative charges sought to impose administrative punishments from a mere reprimand to the heaviest penalty of removal from office with a lifetime ban from working in the government.

Thus, if found guilty by the Ombudsman, Mocha Uson, the fake news queen of the Duterte administration, will not only be kicked out from the office she is presently holding but will forever be barred from holding any position in government.

When that day comes, that day when Mocha Uson is removed and banned from entering government service will be the day justice is served to the thousands of genuine, dedicated and qualified public servants in the country.
