Anti-Bongbong Post Revives Rumor About Grace Poe As Marcos’ Child

The buzz just refuses to die.

So is Senator Grace Poe a daughter of the late Ferdinand Marcos or not?

This one-million-dollar question has been nagging not only the lady senator but also the public in general since the issue came up before the official start of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Poe is an adopted daughter of the late Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces. However, rumors have it that she is a biological but illegitimate daughter of the late dictator Marcos with Roces’ sister Rosemarie Sonora with whom Ferdinand Marcos had an illicit affair.

Even then senator and vice-presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos played along with this gossip and tried to use the same to gain some media mileage.

“I am already standing by it,” Marcos said in jest when she described Poe as her sister sometime January 2016.

The election was over and a new president and other public officials were voted into office but the question was left unanswered.

Now that Marcos is in the limelight once again because of the ongoing recount of votes in the vice-presidential derby, the rumor was resuscitated by one social media post.

In her Facebook status, a certain Bituin Rustia told Marcos that he lost the election contest fair and square and that it is time for him to move on and should stop destabilizing the country.

Rustia who hails from the Ilocos region said that that there were more than 300,000 voters in Region 1, a bailiwick of the Marcoses, who did not vote for the son of the late deposed dictator.

“Hindi ine-expect ng kampo ni BBM na may 300,000+ voters mula sa Region 1 na HINDI NILA NALOKO, and THAT made the difference,”

Rustia wrote.

Using the hashtag #Region1Knows, Rustia claimed that she is part of the silent faction of the Ilocano population who heard the stories of their grandparents about how bad the Marcoses and their cronies ruled the nation including the Ilocos region before Ferdinand Marcos was ousted by the popular and internationally-commended People Power Revolution of February 1986.

“Kaya hinding-hindi kami papayag na makabalik ang isang Marcos sa Malacañang,” she declared.

However, aside from talking about how bad the Marcoses ruled the country, Rustia shared another tidbit of juicy information that their ancestors have been telling them: that Imee Marcos and Grace Poe are biological sisters.

And just like that, after the rumor died a natural death after Poe lost and placed third in the 2016 presidential elections, the issue is back to pester her, the Marcoses and the Filipino people who have the natural desire for melodramatic developments ala-soap opera in the lives of personalities in the political and showbiz world.

In November of 2015, Marcos Jr. offered to help Poe by taking a DNA test. It is not clear if the former pushed through with his offer and, if yes, what are the results of the test.
